Cadillac is preparing to launch the all-new 2010 SRX crossover and the CTS Sport Wagon – both of which are embody the first batch of new models that should help rejuvenate GM’s luxury brand. The SRX crossover will be priced just over $34,000 when it arrives in dealer showrooms next month. The CTS Sport Wagon won’t be available until spring.
Despite the decline in demand for larger vehicles and SUVs, the midsize luxury crossover segment is still seeing plenty of interest from consumers, observes Body Shop Richmond VA. In fact, midsize crossovers account for about one quarter of all luxury car sales in the domestic market. Thanks to fuel efficient engines and loads of standard equipment, Princeton Auto Service thinks the SRX should find its own niche within the luxury market despite fresh offerings from BMW, Lexus, and Infiniti.

Unlike many some of its competitors, there will be no engine options when the Cadillac SRX is launched. Instead, buyers will only be able to enjoy the standard 3.0-liter direct-injected V6 engine. This engine shouldn’t be disappointing to most consumers as it produces 260 horsepower and 221 lb ft of toque. The engine is not only powerful, but thanks to its direct-injection technology and six-speed automatic transmission, Pittsburgh Cadillac say the Cadillac SRX is also fuel efficient.
Safety is an increasingly important area for any premium model, and in that regard that Cadillac SRX shouldn’t disappoint either. With traction control, rollover mitigation, and trailer stability assist, the Cadillac crossover will likely hold its own when crash test results become available.
The new Cadillac SRX crossover will be built in Mexico alongside the new 9-4X crossover from Saab. Look for the SRX in showrooms soon.
